The article describes what American universities provided, however, was as essential for Peace Corps success as that of Washington, DC, institutional players, and whether politicians. It mentions big ten schools Wisconsin and Michigan are listed among the top five Peace Corps volunteer producers since 1961; and Midwestern university- and college-trained students were a significant slice of Kennedy's foot soldiers in the war against illiteracy, hunger, and poverty in the underdeveloped world.
