The article describes two cases illustrating typical techniques for dental ridge preservation. Ridge preservation was developed using several different materials to prevent alveolar bone loss after dental extractions. For the first patient who presented with large apical lesions and significant bone loss, demineralized bone putty was used inside the sockets and bovine bone mineral was used outside the sockets. For the other patient, a demineralized bone putty was injected into the socket.
