- Abstract
The article discusses the application of masochism philosophy of theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick to international women's human rights (IWHR). It compares the definitions of masochism in the essays "A Poem Is Being Written," by Sedgwick and "A Child Is Being Beaten," by Sigmund Freud. It explores the emphasis of IWHR on the victim and the provisions of the Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) on prostitution that limit sexual freedom of women. It also analyzes the role of sexual agency in IWHR.
