Chilala, Cheela Himutwe K.
- Abstract
The article focuses on appropriation or 'Calibanisation' of the English language by African fiction writers. It compares fictional character Caliban's hostility to his master Prospero with hostile appropriation of the English language and colonial culture in some African texts. Fictional works discussed include Chinua Achebe "Things Fall Apart", Andreya Masiye's "Before Dawn" and John Luangala's "The Chosen Bud".
