- Abstract
Florida's Highwaymen are a group of African American landscape painters who have recently become exceptionally popular. This article explores their story and issues related to the artists' popularity, the quality of the work, the educational experiences of the artists and their teacher, and the way in which a good story can help us "see." Reasons for studying the Highwayman are suggested. This analysis raises questions about what kinds of art we like and how we make those decisions.
