- Title
Treatment of Textile Effluents in Constructed Wetlands: A Case Study.
- Authors
Baughman, George L.; Perkins, Warren S.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the treatment of textile effluents at Coats American in Toccoa, Georgia. Input and output water samples from the fullscale wetland system approximately bimonthly between July 2000 and April 2001 were examined. The effect of wetlands on color, chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), total copper, dyes, and selected ions in wastewater that was previously treated in a biological treatment system is shown. Treatment in the constructed wetland had little effect on the level of color present and TOC in the wastewater. The total COD of the wastewater and the acute and chronic toxicity of the wastewater were lowered.
