- Abstract
The article "Announcements of the DGG" provides information on current topics and challenges in geriatrics. The President of the German Society for Geriatrics (DGG), Markus Gosch, emphasizes the importance of geriatrics in the inpatient care of older patients and advocates for the further development of the field. Another important topic is further education, especially for the field of "general medicine". Gosch aims to collaborate with the DGIM to establish a focus in internal medicine. Other topics include the consolidation of certifications in geriatric traumatology and the strengthening of geriatrics as a competent contact in all areas. The article also contains information on the congress keynotes by Rose Anne Kenny on orthostatic hypotension in older people and by Alasdair MacLullich on delirium research and its effects. The article addresses various topics in the field of geriatrics, including the treatment of delirium, triggers in the brain, and the awarding of the Robert Wartenberg Prize to Professor Marija Djukic for her work on cerebrospinal fluid analysis in infectious diseases of the nervous system. It also mentions the successful communication work of the DGG in 2022 and the first half of 2023, including the number of mentions in the media and the contacts reached. Upcoming webinars on various geriatrics topics are also announced.
