- Title
Protein synthesis: Stop the nonsense.
- Authors
Ferré-D'Amaré, Adrian R.
- Abstract
The article offers the author's views on the works of J. Karijolich and Y.-T. Yu regarding the artificial way of inducing nonsense suppression. The author discusses the use of post-transcriptional conversion of the uridine residue in termination codons into its isomer, pseudouridine in inducing nonsense suppression by the researchers. He explores the role of the researcher's findings on the biochemistry of protein synthesis and its implications for treating genetic diseases.
