Reconciling Willingness to Pay and Conservation Cost for Sustainable Watershed Management in Tanzania.
- Authors

- Abstract
Effective sustainable natural resource management asks for an integrated approach to allow actors involvement in the management process. The willingness to pay (WTP) has been applied to ensure stakeholder ownership of the conservation programme. However, the ownership of this nature is unidirectional and the stated WTP amount does not link well with the conservation cost. Innovation to reconcile WTP and the conservation costs using the contingent valuation method for valuing non-market watershed resource is employed. The WTP process result to sustainable fund when stakeholders are educated on the type of management and conservation costs.
