The article focuses on the emerging ideological alternative to Southern working-class whiteness, known as the "Liberal Redneck Revolution." The author discusses comedian Trae Crowder and his comedy team WellRed, who have pioneered the movement since 2016, discusses their book "The Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin' Dixie Out of the Dark," and explores how progressive politics can impact the rural South.
