- Abstract
Introduction. In clinical practice the couples with unknown cause of infertility unfortunately occupy nearly 20% and raise management challenges. Which method is better suited for achiving a pregnancy? Material and methods. We have a batch of 182 cases of couples with infertility for at least two years, without apparent cause that had an average of 4 artificial insemination per couple. After none of the inseminations they did not achieve pregnancy. All these couples had an in vitro fertilization procedure. Discussion. For a proper comparison I should have a similar group of patients with artificial insemination for infertility of unknown cause that never got to in vitro fertilization. Results. Through in vitro fertilization they obtained a pregnancy rate of 30% overall success rate comparable to our clinic's IVF pregnancy rate. Conclusion. apparently IVF is the procedure of choice for couples with infertility of unknown cause.
