- Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This influence is analyzed aggregated, as the mutually influence and connection of the total sum od foreign direct investment and total level of economic growth, and also disaggregated, as the influence and connection of FDI by sectors on GDP by sectors in B&H. Linear regression analysis is used to test the hypothesis about the positive impact of FDI on economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Shapiro-Wilk test, the Jarque-Bera test and a scatter plot were used to examine the distribution of residuals. The Breusch-Pagan/Cook-Weisberg test is used to examine the assumption of heteroskedasticity of residuals, while the Durbin's alternative test is used to examine serial autocorrelation of residuals. The results show a positive and statistically significant influence of the total level of FDI on economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but this influence is different analytically by sectors. Results show the positive and statistically significant influence of FDI on economic growth in the secondary, tertiary, quaternary and quintal sectors, while this influence absent in primary sector, due to activities that are significantly based on domestic investments. The above results indicate the importance of FDI for the economic growth of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and are a signal to economic policy makers, as well as researchers, to focus on sectoral policies for FDI, in order to generate more significant positive economic effect
