- Abstract
That Herbert Marcuse really had a significant influence is also shown by the fact that his work "The One Dimensional Man" was often discussed in the massmedia, so that he became one of the few American intellectuals who gained such attention. This influence continued to be a sharp critique of modern capitalist society. Marcuse argues that advanced industrial society creates false needs, which integrate individuals into the existing system of production and consumption. Being a member of the critical school of Frankfurt, Marcuse asserted numerous argument s against the contemporary capitalist society which made man not to be himself, and in this way it would produce an existing system that eliminates the denial, criticism and opposition of this system. Based on Marcuse's one dimensional man, I will examine political conformity in Kosovo and the influence of political discourse in all spheres of social life. In this sense, the political discourse in Kosovo aims to oppress the individual, until he is not able to deal with the basic problems that would bring a criticism of the system itself. Also, this paper will examine the meaning and role of the intellectual in Kosovo, that is, the need for intellectuals who are not infiltrated by any sphere of interest. So, I will first examine Marcuse's view of the one-dimensional man in contemporary capitalist societies and then move on to examining capitalist societies and then move on to examining political conformism in Kosovo and the role that the intellectual should play in this aspect of improving social awareness.
