- Abstract
The document is an instrument of ratification of the Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), published in the BOE on March 29, 2011. IRENA is an international organization created in January 2009 in Bonn, with the aim of promoting the implementation and sustainable use of renewable energies. To date, 70 countries and the European Union have ratified the Statute. The organization's headquarters are located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. IRENA aspires to become a center of excellence in renewable energy technologies and carry out activities such as analysis of national policies, interaction with other organizations, advice, and promotion of international debate. The organic structure of IRENA includes an Assembly, a Council, and a Secretariat led by a Director-General. The Statute also regulates issues related to the budget, modifications, withdrawal, dispute resolution, and entry into force. In Spain, the Statute entered into force on April 1, 2011.
