- Abstract
This article discusses the implementation of the 2001 policy for lifelong learning for staffers of Great Britain's National Health Service. The policy mandates that education and training be available to all staff groups. Equality of access indicated that there would be a need to provide programs for part time, night shift and community employees in remote locations. Many viewed information technology and networking as the solution to this problem. Information skills training programs were developed to address this policy. The article discusses lessons from an interim evaluation of a training skills program at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust in England.
