TA FOR TEENS, and Other Important People (Book Review).
- Abstract
TA FOR TEENS, and Other Important People. Alvyn M. Freed. Jalmar Press. Sacramento, California 1976. 238 pp. This is the fifth book in the TA for Everybody Series. The author's intent is to provide tools to be used in schools and at home by young people in learning to cope with dilemmas which plague them in childhood The author describes in detail the principles of Transactional Analysis. The author believes that TA can be used to "Capture America" in the schools and at home. If you want to win, decide right now to give up putting yourself down. Throw out the use of such wore as "I can't" He then proceeds to introduce the three separate ego states inside each person: parent, adult and child. The clues for which ego state is talking are the winds being used The parent seeks to deal with values, dogma, prejudices, and authority The child seeks to obtain satisfaction, and good feelings. The adult attempts to deal with the present, and describes things as they are. TA strokes keep people alive A stroke is something that others do that causes one to feel good or bad. The exchange strokes is a transaction.
