- Abstract
This article profiles Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. He is mainly involved in business marketing. Cuban grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. To pay his own way through college, one of his first business ventures involved door-to-door selling of trash bags. As a student at Indiana University, Cuban was discouraged from earning an MBA degree. However, he surpassed all expectations. In 1983, he became the co-founder of MicroSolutions. He later sold the company to CompuServe, and from there, established himself as a multi-millionaire. In 1999, after establishing Broadcast.com and selling it to Yahoo! for $5.7 billion, his sights were fixed on the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. In 2000, Cuban purchased the team for $280 million.
