- Abstract
Although the topic of radioactivity, has heard and read on the basis of some occurring events, unfortunately these are related to accidents, such as Chernobyl, where there was a release of radiation and overdose suffered dozens of patients in 1996 in Costa Rica [1], much has also talks about the problems of radioactive waste [2] and certainly highlights the history of the atomic bombs used in world War II . But really there is little that is known about the subject. We need to know the benefits that cause scientists scope and precautions that must be taken with the handling of radioactivity, such as the proper use of isotopes in medicine, nuclear medicine more accurately , and it is at this point that progress as that achieved with the radio dichloride 223 ((Ra-223-Cl2) Alpharadin) as treatment of bone metastasis. In this paper aims to give an overview on general aspects of radioactivity and isotopes (literature review), to reach the element Discovered by Madame Curie Radio and its evolution up to the Radio -223 isotope used in treatments CPRC, manufacturing, decay and applications experimental Physics in nuclear medicine medical specialty hand Bayer®, as part of a motivating reading in the study of medical physics and its application in nuclear medicine.
