- Title
Advances in Partially Hydrolyzed PVA.
- Authors

- Abstract
Several grades of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) are available for warp sizing. The most commonly used grades—fully, intermediate and partially—differ in the degree of hydrolysis and/or molecular weight (viscosity). A waxy lubricant is generally included in PVA size formulations but disadvantages have been encountered when wax is present. A new wax-free, ready-to-use warp size is reported which exhibits performance advantages of partially hydrolyzed PVA without weaving and finishing problems associated with conventional kettle waxes.
