- Abstract
Naim, one of the Divan poets, lived in the seventeenth century. He was born in Üsküdar and worked as a district clerk and as a teacher. The poet passed away in 1694 where he was born. There are two known works of Naim that are Divan and Gülzar-ı Naim masnavi. However, there is no knowledge about the Poet's divan. Gülzar-ı Naim is a masnavi based on narration. An exemplary story is told in this work. A voluminous sakiname is written in an appropriate section of the Gülzarı Naim masnavi. It is clear that Naim followed the fashion of writing a sakiname that was very popular in the seventeenth century. Sakiname, which drew little attention as it was included in the Gülzar-ı Naim masnavi, has a significant place in our literature because of its content and volume. Because the sakiname includes all the necessary features a sakiname should have and it is the sixth largest written work in the Turkish literature regarding its volume. Although a mystical atmosphere was tried to be created by using terms of mysticism occasionally, it is seen that the worldly side dominates the work. The most intriguing feature of the sakiname is the classification trial of the content. The poet classified the topics under four main headings, addressed the saki first in each heading, and then tells about other topics under subheadings. Sakiname is written in masnavi verse style. 'Mef'ûlü Mefâ'ilün Fe'ûlün' bahri hecez aruz pattern was used in the work. The total number of verses in the sakiname is 589. There are also 6 rubais written appropriately about the topic told. The number of the verses increases up to 601 with these rubais.
