- Authors
Wood, Jonathan R.; Shadmani, Ghazal; Siegel, Marilyn J.
- Abstract
While many sports injuries in young athletes are similar to those in adults, several are distinct. In the skeletally immature population, the weakest areas of the skeleton are the cartilaginous physes of the epiphyses and apophyses, followed by the bones and the ligaments. As such, the cartilaginous structures are particularly prone to injury.
