- Abstract
This study has been carried out to determine the effect of tensile strength of 8 and 10 mm diameter dowels on the laminated wood produced from beech and scotch pine having 4, 5 and 7 mm layer of thicknesses bonded with polyvinylacetate (PVA) and Desmodur-VTKA. Prepared samples have been applied to the tensile strength of dowel according to the procedure of ASTM-D 1037 and it has been determined the effects on diameter of dowel, the number of layer thickness and the type of adhesive on the strength of tensile strength. As a result of the experiments, the highest tensile strength has been obtained in beech wood bonded with Desmodur-VTKA, 5 mm layer of thickness and 10 mm diameter of dowel as 7.271 N/mm2.
