- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges regarding developing renewable energy on tribal lands. It informs that The U.S. congress and state legislatures should make renewable energy tax credits fully transferable by tribes to taxable entities willing to pay for them. The Indian Tribal Energy Development and Self-Determination Act (ITEDSA) provide tribe a legal framework for developing renewable energy infrastructure. The Act allows tribes to regulate the conveyance of their own energy resources by giving them chance to develop renewable energy networks without federal supervision. ITEDSA provides technical assistance and low-interest loans to tribes for energy conservation programs, energy supplies, and development of a tribal energy resource inventory studies.
