- Abstract
The article discusses the right to privacy and U.S. disclosure of information laws in relation to petitions as of January 2013, focusing on American democracy and political obscurity. The right of an American citizen to petition the government is addressed, along with political privacy and the U.S. Supreme Court case Doe v. Reed which deals with a threat to release the names of the people who signed an anti-gay marriage petition in Washington. The U.S. Freedom of Information Act is mentioned.
