- Abstract
Antecedentes: La amplia distribución del mosquito vector y la cocirculación de múltiples especies arbovirales, han generado en el mundo y en las Américas aumentos en la incidencia de dengue, Zika y chikunguña, considerados un importante problema de salud pública. Objetivo: Describir la frecuencia de infección o coinfección por los virus del dengue (DENV), del Zika (ZIKV) y de chikunguña (CHIKV), en mosquitos Aedes en diferentes departamentos de Colombia. Materiales y métodos: En Amazonas, Boyacá, Magdalena y Vichada se recolectó el material entomológico. Las muestras se procesaron individualmente para la extracción de ARN y síntesis de cDNA, y para detección de serotipos DENV1-4 (PCR múltiple), CHIKV y ZIKV (qRT-PCR). Las muestras positivas-infectadas se secuenciaron (método de Sanger) para identificar la especie vectorial, a partir de la subunidad I del gen citocromo oxidasa (COI). Resultados: Se capturaron 558 mosquitos y el 29,4 %, identificado como A. aegypti, presentó infección por arbovirus. El DENV mostró la mayor tasa de infección en todos los departamentos, con predominio de DENV-1 y DENV-2 con una frecuencia del 10,7 % y 14,5 %, respectivamente. Las coinfecciones entre serotipos representaron el 3,8 %. Se detectó infección en un individuo por CHIKV (0,2 %) y no se detectaron infecciones por ZIKV. Conclusiones: La infección por arbovirus en el vector refleja el comportamiento epidemiológico en el país, con una mayor incidencia por los serotipos DENV-1 y DENV-2. Además, confirma que A. aegypti es el principal transmisor de arbovirus en el país. Se resalta la importancia de los estudios entomovirológicos dentro de los sistemas de vigilancia, para comprender la dinámica de transmisión y el riesgo potencial en la población.
