- Title
The Bequest of Edward Steichen.
- Abstract
The article highlights the bequest of Edward Steichen at the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House in New York. It states that the photographs were entrusted by the late photographer's wife Joanna T. Steichen. The collection includes 1920s experimental work done in Paris, luminuous early three-color prints, family portraits, the late work in Mexico and the Shadblow tree series in Connecticut. It also notes that institutions were chosen to receive the bequest for their commitment to photography as expressed by their acquisitions policies, research and archive facilities, level of public access, exhibitions, publications, collection needs and geographic location. List of the institutions and the titles or print descriptions of the photographs are also presented.
