- Abstract
An adaptive version of the multirank Capon algorithm is constructed for acoustic-source localization by a vertical array in the case of incomplete information on the random propagation channel. Under the assumption that sound scattering is mainly caused by wind seas, statistical modeling is performed to determine the accuracy of source coordinate estimation and the probability of correct source localization. The proposed method is tested by experimental data to demonstrate its performance in the Barents Sea.
