- Abstract
This article offers tips on making powerful speeches that will inspire people. When addressing an audience, the difference between the right word and the almost right word is like the difference between closing a sale and losing it. To strive for support or to motivate people, effective communicators arm themselves with words that wow an audience. The first way to do this is by using power verbs that help get to the point quickly. Next, get rid of the wax from the wording--omit any phrase or group of words which is not an integral part of the thought you the speaker seeks to express. Another way to motivate audience is by utilizing positive and confident wording. Once the right words are chosen, the speaker needs to use them in the most effective way to build rapport and demonstrate expertise. Body language, posture and voice pitch can be used to accent the power of verbal language.
