- Title
"Masculine Margaret?": Margaret of Anjou's Gender Performance in Shakespeare's First.
- Authors
Bell, Charles
- Abstract
The article presents a discussion to understand gender roles of Margaret, one of the most popular female characters in playwright William Shakespeare's work, who appeared in tetralogy "Henry VI" Part 1, 2, and 3, and "Richard III." Margaret has earned admiration due to her ferocious actions that many would call her "masculine," but she also managed to retain her femininity throughout the plays by performing both the masculine and feminine roles.
