The article discusses risk perception, a phenomenon of decision making based on an individual's frame of reference developed over a lifetime. Topics discussed include the risk perception gap resulting from ignorance, the views of Risk consultant David Ropeik on the same, and difference between the thinking of experts and the public about risk. Also it mentions types of risk such as hazard identification, hazard characterization and risk characterization.
