- Abstract
The article focuses on the development of a fluorescent sensor protein for detecting changes in the glucose concentration in human airway surface liquid (ASL). Topics discussed include the sensitivity of the biosensor to determine glucose concentrations in ASL, the role of the protein in monitoring glucose homoeostasis in lungs and the association of lung disease and elevation of blood glucose with increased glucose concentration in ASL.
