- Abstract
Guangxi LNG Receiving Station is located in Tieshan Port District of Beihai City, Guangxi. LNG transported via ocean is gasified here and the natural gas is then sent to consumers via pipeline transmission system. The waste water treatment system is one of the utility systems that treat waste water from production facilities and domestic sewage system and has a significant influence or impact on normal operation of the receiving station. With the start up operation of the receiving station, it becomes apparent that the waste water treatment system is plagued with issues such as excessive oil content in treated water, low microbial activity, intermittent waste water feed stream, unregulated aeration and untimely replacement of some parts or material. These issues are analysed and studied, resulting in the following retrofit actions to ensure the treated waste water meets the specifications. These retrofits include the addition of an oil trap, sludge recycle pump to skim off excess oil and enable sludge reflux to improve oil recovery and sludge treatment. A control valve is also added to regulate aeration rate; the fi bre ball filter and the composite packings are replaced ; water flow-rate of the self priming pump is increased; and the process control system is optimised. These retrofits enhance the automation of the station operation, increase waster water handling capacity and in addition, increase microbial activity and meet the biochemical treatment requirements of the treated water. The treated water meets all aspects of the performance indicators of the codes and standards, achieving the objectives of the retrofit project.
