- Abstract
Increasing education level, welfare, and awareness of consumers are the most important reasons that products marked with geographical identifications have been increasing its importance and demand day by day. Consumers have preferred consuming healthy, local and traditionally produced, environmentally friendly products to globally mass produced - lower cost but health-problematic products. Protected Destination of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) are the well know types of geographical identification. Goods marked with PDO can not be produced, processed or prepared out of defined boundaries. Goods marked with PGI can be produced, processed or prepared different places but they have to have same production, process, or preparetion methods and the same product quality as well. This gives more confidence, guarantee for quality, traditionallity, and products /process standardization to the consumers. At the same time, producers obtain opportunity to increase product quality and gain more profit. The aim of his study is to determine the knowledge, perception, attitudes and behaviors of the producers of "Kırklareli Feta Cheese" marked with PDO in 2020 and to provide suggestions to producers and policy makers.
