- Abstract
The recent relocation of site 10-GG-318 in the Bennett Hills is yielding new evidence relating the shield-bearer motif to the proto-biographic style commonly found in the region of the Great Plains. The petroglyph site documentation has been updated and interesting comparisons with other shield-bearer sites is under investigation. This site is dramatic in its representation of the full-bodied shield bearers as well as the design representation of the horse. Additionally, photo enhancement techniques applied to one panel has revealed two horses with riders. An overview of the site and discussion of its petroglyphs will show the shield bearer on the cusp of cultural change with the introduction of the horse.
