- Abstract
Almost all of social groups that existed in this world, have tried to live in tents in their social life. While some of these moving to stone houses in early stages, some have made this transition much later. The transition of the Turkmens happened in mostly 20th century. Even though the transition in Turkmenistan Turkmens has begun after they were defeated by Russians in early 20th century, Turkmensahra/Iranian Turkmens started living in the stone houses after the events of 1924 when they were defeated by King Reza Khan and after the fall of the first Turkmen republic. Today, the Turkmen tents are used in shepherds pastures and various ceremonies. They are still sporadically exist in Turkmenistan and Turkmensahra. This article is an overview of the history of the Turkmen tent, since the Huns era. The architecture of Turkmen tent, elements of it, and the ceramonies in which Turkmens set up tents. This manuscript also refers to the similarities between the Turkmen tents and the Huns.
