- Abstract
The article discusses mural paintings of bear, boar, and bird hunting which appear in the Turret Room of Madingley Hall on the campus of the University of Cambridge. It chronicles the traditions of hunting as they existed in Great Britain in the late Middle Ages, describes the differences in activities that took place during hawking and bear and boar hunting, and explores documents which describe the building's function as a hunting lodge under the ownership of Sir Edward Hynde. It also speculates on the identity of the painter of the mural, provides a description of the details of the paintings, and mentions the book "The Compleat Angler" by Izaak Walton.
