Abstract
The article presents news briefs related to history. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) was used to locate a Viking longship beneath a parking lot in Merseyside, England. Oral history and literature suggest women had more freedom in the Middle Ages than had been previous considered. Radar examination has revealed a hundred tunnels used by prisoners of war to escape the Stalag Luft III prison camp in Zagan, Poland during World War II.
