- Title
Getting Ahead of the Curve to Prevent Elder Mistreatment in the United States.
- Authors
Dahlberg, Linda L.
- Abstract
Elder mistreatment is an important public health problem that can be prevented. By investing in upstream prevention and taking a multigenerational approach, the United States can help create communities where older adults are safe, thriving, and free from abuse and exploitation. The need has never been more pressing, as the nation is on the precipice of historic population changes that could place a substantial burden on families, communities, and systems of care and protection for older adults. This article describes these changes and how public health efforts can make a difference.
