- Abstract
The article focuses on the relationship this Spanish architect and painter kept with El Salvador. His stays there, due to his marriage to the Salvadoran Rosa Turcios --poet Rubén Darío's niece--, inspired him to paint architectural motifs, towns, volcanoes and human types. His was an unusual look at Ibero-American art. Involved in all cultural aspects of that country, he projected a new cathedral for San Salvador. He even penned a book on Salvadoran colonial churches, unstudied before then.
