The article examines the role of unilateral sanctions in Myanmar's foreign policies. Topics discussed include use of unilateral sanctions in Myanmar by the U.S.; enactment of laws such as Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917 and International Emergency Economic Powers Act in the U.S.; and ways of improving the use of sanctions as an effective foreign policy tool.
