- Authors
Rose, Leslie M.
- Abstract
In this article, the author who teaches appellate advocacy at the Golden Gate University discusses how she considers gender as one of the factor while teaching in the legal-writing classroom. She mentions that most of the defendants, lawyers or officials acting on behalf of the state are male and consistent use of male-gendered generics to represent all people. The use of use gender-neutral language therefore should be encouraged in modern legal writing texts and style manuals.
