- Abstract
The article offers an examination of the factors that contributed to creation and ultimate failure of the Greek-Albanian Union of 1907. In exploring the motivation for the Union, the article examines the national movements that existed within each country and the enthno-linguistic and religious differences that accompanied them. It discusses the influence of local decision making on local affairs and explores the role the Epiote Question played in the establishment of the Union. Topics discussed also include the Treaty of San Stefano, the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877-1878, the Treaty of Berlin, Albanian national identity and the significance of the establishment of borders in the region.
