- Abstract
The article reports on the first successful fledging of blue-headed conures on Margarita Island, Venezuela. According to the report, their are three species of psittacids inhabited the Caribbean island of Margarita including the blue-headed conure Aratinga acuticaidata neoxena, brown -throated parakeet Aratinga pertinga margaritensis, and the yellow-shouldered parrot Amazona barbadenis. It is inferred that he blue-headed conures nest exclusively in natural cavities in black mangrove trees Avicenia germinans within the Laguna de La Restinga National Park. However, the Venezuelan National Parks Institute (INPARQUES) currently lacks the personnel and equipment to patrol Laguna de La Restinga effectively.
