- Abstract
Demonstrates the feasibility of collecting feces, extracting total DNA, and amplifying mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA ) markers from free-ranging dolphins. Fecal samples collected from bottlenose dolphins in the Bahamas; Determination of the origin and quality of extracted DNA by polymerase chain reaction; Conclusion that feces may represent a useful supplement to DNA for studies of cetacean population genetics.
