- Abstract
The article explores the status of nutrition and bone health in Great Britain. Both genetic factors and lifestyle choices are important predictors of bone strength. Information on various mechanisms in which nutrients influence bone health is provided. It cites calcium and vitamin D as the two most important nutrients for bone health. The recommended calcium intake for British adults is 700 milligrams daily. It notes the cost implications of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women for Britain.
