An essay is presented on the reality of unified objects. It discusses the strengths and defects of the philosophical works "Monadology," by Gottfried Wilhelm Freiherr von Leibniz and "The Thing," by Martin Heidegger. It explores the term occasionalism to determine whether individual objects are granted sovereign power. It analyzes the role of occasional or indirect causation in philosophy.
