- Abstract
The article focuses on the article "Radar to Measure Hurricane Winds," which was published in the "News and Notes" section of the May 1956 issue of the periodical "Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society." In the article it was reported that the U.S. Air Force Air Weather Service flying weathermen will use a new radar to measure hurricane winds. The Boeing WB-50 Superforts have been fitted with the new radar system. It was stated that the radar will also be helpful in determining the latitude and longitude of the aircraft. Data collected by the radar was to be used for hurricane research programs of the U.S. Air Weather Service and Weather Bureau.
