- Abstract
Truancy is a complex problem that significantly affects students and their families. This case series was conducted to convey some of the difficulties associated with truancy as well as the outcome of collaboration between a mediation center that works with students with truancy problems and a pediatric chronic pain clinic. Clients were referred to the pain clinic by the mediation center to explore chronic pain as a cause of truancy. The case series portrays three clients who were referred to the pain clinic and the outcome of the collaboration. The examples demonstrate the complexity of truancy as well as the benefits of active collaboration between the mediation center and a pediatric medical specialty clinic.
