- Title
The Relationship Between Principal Time Allocation and Work Effectiveness: Evidence Across City, Suburban, Town and Rural School Districts.
- Authors
Smith, Patricia A.
- Abstract
The time allocation in work activities of principals is directly related to how they make decisions in regards to resources allocation, setting priorities, and determining organizational activities. This study was conducted to investigate the principals' allocation of time within their daily work schedules to determine where the majority of their time is spent. This study utilized the High School Longitudinal Survey of 2009, which is a national survey that is administered by the National Center for Educational Statistics. The results of the study indicated that only a small portion of principal's time is spent meeting with students. The largest amount of time spent was found to be focused on the principal's own teaching assignments.
