Emergence of resistant salmonella spp.; new challenges, new trends.
- Authors
Zali, Mohammad Reza; Alebouyeh, Masoud; Tajbakhsh, Mercedeh
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the challenges and trends in the development of drugs for treatment of drug-resistant Salmonella enterica, which causes salmonellosis. They ague that resistance to such drugs is either chromosomal or plasmid-encoded, which causes the change in the usage of first-line antibiotics against salmonellosis. The authors also cite studies related to Salmonella enterica that reveal new resistance mechanisms against the said antibiotics.
